- Facilitate access, communication, diagnosis and care for women with a high risk of cervical cancer to reach doctors, nurses and researchers throughout the state
Solution:
Customize the vConsult app for remote cervical cancer screenings leveraging University of Virginia Cancer Center’s existing telemedicine video and tele-colposcopy capabilities.
Results:
- Provides enhanced support of screening and diagnostic services to local clinicians evaluating women with abnormal Pap tests
- Provides access to specialist evaluation for patients living in medically underserved Appalachian communities
- Greatly reduces time to specialty services for women with suspected cervical pre-cancers
- Facilitates continuing specialty education and quality control of local care through secure record sharing.
